The Purpose of Summer Reading
We hope that you enjoy the 2013-2014 edition of The Lexington School reading suggestions for Middle School. Our wish is that students and parents regard this list as a helpful guide for all readers but especially for reluctant readers. Research shows that students who read regularly score higher on vocabulary-related sections of standardized tests. More importantly, people who read regularly open themselves to an expansive world of ideas, magic, wonder, and information that enhances every day.
The books listed below are suggested books that represent a cross section of quality and entertaining choices, but students are not restricted to this list. If you child needs any assistance over the summer finding good books, he or she is encouraged to email the librarians (librarians@thelexingtonschool.org) for reading recommendations.
