Benefits of TLS for Reopening School

  • A LARGE CAMPUS makes social distancing easier.
  • 40 ACRES of green space, including 3 playgrounds, 4 athletic fields, 3 outdoor sports courts, wooded areas, freshwater streams, and ample common spaces allow teachers to take full advantage of healthy fresh air for instruction, group meetings, or imaginative play, rain or shine.
  • 140,000 SQUARE FEET indoors provides abundant room for students to safely distance inside classrooms in “cohort” groups (or “crews”) and for each division to remain in assigned “zones” to minimize their number of contacts each day.
  • SMALL CLASS SIZES have always been a priority at TLS. This year's smaller cohort groups will assure appropriate social distancing throughout the day.
  • DINING SERVICE at The Lexington School always seeks to provide students with healthy lunches and snacks planned and prepared by a professional chef and his team. This fall, our chef will continue to serve locally-sourced foods from a commercial-grade kitchen. The addition of two more team members will allow students to enjoy customized lunches served within their assigned zones.
  • HEALTH CENTER: As one of the only schools in Fayette County to employ a full-time registered nurse, our Health Center has expanded to include more room and an additional counselor to promote the physical, mental, and emotional health of every student.
  • INCREASED CLEANING protocols take place before, during, and after the school day.
  • STATE-OF-THE-ART HVAC technology maintains a higher quality of airflow.
The Lexington School provides an education of the highest quality in a structured, nurturing community. We instill integrity, a joyful pursuit of learning, and a strong work ethic.
