About TLS
We Teach Courage.
A strong partnership with parents, small class sizes, and caring, qualified teachers combine to make a school family where children are known and understood. This warm embrace leads to an excitement for learning where children are comfortable stretching in their individual ways and seeking guidance when they need it.
All families at The Lexington School make a conscious choice to send their children here. They understand the immense value of a strong developmental and academic foundation for their children. They are investing in the future. It is this collective choice that forms the exceptional culture and community and propels generations of leaders from this springboard that is The Lexington School.

We love teachable moments.
At The Lexington School, children find courage in lots of little places—in every classroom, in every activity, and from every teacher they encounter. It could be the first time he jumps off the big tires on the playground to a crowd of cheering friends, or the first time he performs a solo at Spring Sing to a packed house.
It might be the moment she realizes her electrical circuit just won’t work and it is time to start all over. Challenges lead to growth, and growth builds more courage. A child finds courage when he takes a risk, and regardless of the outcome, he isn’t afraid to try again. A child finds courage when she makes a mistake and a nurturing adult turns that mistake into a teachable moment.
Our Admission Office loves teachable moments too, especially ones that involve curious families who want to learn as much as they can about The Lexington School.

Our education is a complete toolbox.
You might get your hands dirty. Tools are what we use in life to analyze, to build, and to fix things. Children have to use the tools to know how they work, and at The Lexington School that is the way we teach—creative teachers, small class sizes, and curious children who learn by doing.
Lexington School students handle the tools. Thay are active in learning. They are taught to comprehend the material rather than simply memorize the facts to get through the test. Our academic curriculum leads to skills that work for them their entire lives, well beyond their years at The Lexington School.

It's all here.
Starting at three years old, TLS kids get it all, every week, all year long. In addition to a core curriculum of reading, writing, and arithmetic, they move in and out to studios, gymnasiums, indoor and outdoor classrooms where teachers and coaches excite and challenge them.
Best school campus in Lexington: 40 acres with three playgrounds, two gymnasiums, modern library, and media center, project rooms, innovation labs, maker spaces, a theater, five athletic fields and Colt House, a historic home, woods with native trees, and a creek and so much more.
No more driving all over town from one activity to the next. All of this happens right here in our own back yard.
