Enrichment

Golf Squad

K/MIII-1

Thursdays | March 23 - May 18

Golf Squad is for new and continuing students and provides weekly opportunities for your child to learn the technical swing mechanics (i.e. putting, chipping, full swing, etc.) as well as the social skills required to enjoy golf, the clubs, and golf course (i.e. vocabulary, etiquette, rules, history, etc.) all under the instruction of an LPGA or PGA Professional.

Destination Imagination

Destination Imagination is a creative problem solving team. There are 20 sessions over the course of the school year that meet with two spectacular team managers. A challenge is presented each week that is designed to inspire, create, and problem solve as you tell a story, build a structure, and/or sell an amazing product. There is a snack time, a warm-up, and a team challenge every time we meet.

Robotics Club

Robotics club with Megan Conley is a fun, engaging, hands-on opportunity to explore and foster an interest in all aspects of STEM! Students learn the basics of robotics and coding by working together to design, build, program, and troubleshoot their robots. Once our fundamentals have been laid out, teams will work weekly to solve and compete in engineering challenges. Join to unlock curiosity and passion that will stay with them for life! 

Intermediate/Advanced (Grades 3-8)

Soccer Shots is the industry leader in youth soccer development for children ages 3 through 8. Under the guidance of childhood education specialists, former MLS® and USL® professional soccer players and experienced and licensed soccer coaches, Soccer Shots creates innovative and effective lesson plans tailored specifically to the unique age groups Soccer Shots serves. Using creative and age-appropriate curriculum and infusing each lesson plan with enthusiasm and structured activity, Soccer Shots aims to leave a lasting, positive impact on every child we serve. The Classic program teaches the technical skills of soccer and encourages greater confidence with ball control, using both feet, starting and stopping and changing directions by incorporating basic moves. Through creativity, positivity and fun, we encourage new challenges and increased confidence in the Classic program.

Legendary Students Club

Grades Middle School

Are you a middle school student who loves imagination, strategy, and adventure? “The Legendary Students Club” is for you! Come hang out with Mr. Souders and Mr. Tomlin as you discover the world of Dungeons and Dragons. In this role-playing game, students work together to collaboratively tell stories, build worlds, and grapple with moral and philosophical discussions. Join us on Thursday afternoons from 3:30 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. as we discover and conquer unique worlds together. All are welcome, but space is limited to 10 students. The Lexington Theatre Company- Musical Theatre

The Lexington Theatre Company's Artist Development Program provides theatrical instruction for students of all ages in Central Kentucky. This Musical Theatre Class will focus on the combined genres of music, storytelling, and movement. Experienced teaching and professional artists, Nathaniel Beliveau and Brance Cornelius, will take students on a musical journey filled with creativity, collaboration, and fun. There will also be a final showing of their work at the end of the 6-week session.

Creative Body Movement

In this class students will begin to learn the elements of creative movement and ballet: socialization skills such as turn taking and following instructions will be emphasized. Students are encouraged to expand their movement vocabulary through games and creative exploration of dance movements. Self-esteem and confidence are also developed while students are learning and exploring creative body movement. Kentucky Ballet Theatre instructor, Sarah LaFountain, and her assistant Danielle Ansiel will be teaching this popular class.

Drumming

Grades 4-8

Relieve stress, build confidence, and cultivate creativity through drumming! Students will focus on learning basic stick technique, rhythms, and exercises to improve drumming skills while having a good time learning! Concepts of improvisation and traditional rhythms will be covered as well. Large buckets and drumsticks will be our instruments throughout this class. This class features gifted local drummer and instructor, Dave Farris. He has taught drumming for over 14 years and has performed and studied all over the world as he continues his musical journey.

The Lexington Theatre Company- Voice

Grades 2-5

Wednesdays | Jan. 18, 25 | Feb. 1, 8, 22 | Mar. 1

3:30 P.M. - 4:30 P.M.

 

Voice and Music Class, provided by The Lexington Theatre Company's Artist Development Program, will have students singing and focusing on both vocal techniques and basic music theory. Led by Chris Arroyo, an expert with decades of experience, students will have a blast and conclude with a final performance of their work for family and friends at the end of the 6-week session.

Printmaking

Do you like to try new things? You will definitely have an opportunity in this class! Young students will be introduced to a variety of printmaking techniques. Projects will include printing with Gelli Plates, on acrylic sheets, relief printing, screen printing, and intaglio printmaking. Children will learn about three of the four major areas of printmaking (stencil based/screen printing, relief printing, and intaglio) and be shown how an etching press is used.

Digital Media Arts

Learn how to make Digital Art! Local artist Lennon Michalski will show you how to use a variety of digital mediums, including photography, video, stop frame animation, and Procreate. Learn how to compose a successful picture with the digital camera, a dynamic timeline with video, create motion with stop frame elements, and explore drawing from a digital approach with Procreate. Students will learn the basic tools of each digital art medium along with having fun being creative!

Fashion: Shoe Design

Grades 5 - 8

Do you love shoe design? If you enjoy creativity on your feet, join local shoe designer, Marcus Floyd, who will teach you how to prep and design your own set of unique sneakers. The possibilities are endless! Bring your creativity, painting skills, and a pair of sneakers (old or new), and create some one-of-a-kind Scooby Doo’s! Marcus has been designing shoes for years and has recently been in the news as the designer of horse shoes that were used for the Breeder's Cup this November. When asked how he got started, he said, “I’ve always been into art and sneakers…just seemed like a natural progression to combine the two.” He has designed for celebrities and people all over the world through his business, Infinite Kustomz.

Jazz and Contemporary Dance

Grades 3 - 5

Learn a new body language through jazz and contemporary dance in this 8 week class with Kentucky Ballet Theatre dance teacher, Megan Klotter. Jazz incorporates sharper movements, linear lines, and builds core strength while using modern day music. Contemporary dance teaches the body to become fluid with the music. Both are explored in this 8 week course.

Violin with Lydia Elam

Violin lessons are for all learners and ages 4+. Ms. Elam teaches a variety of styles including traditional (classical, note reading), Suzuki (a certified trained approach involving listening, rote and repetition), fiddle and pop styles. Lessons will include a combination of music fundamentals, music theory and technique. Whether you want to be a professional musician or to play for pure enjoyment, lessons will be full of experimental discovery, but will also involve consistent practice. Lessons will help students develop a beginning violin technique while fostering self confidence and discipline. Violin not provided. Thursday only - 13 lessons ($390)
